Greg -the composer

Early 1997: “Hey guys, guess what? I’ve been recording a ton of my own music lately, mostly on bass, drums, and piano. I’m not sure if any Bad Religion fans would be into it, but maybe I’ll make it available and make it clear that it’s totally different from BR. Do you think anyone would be interested? Anyway, this music has been evolving for the past 10 years and I’ve never released it because it didn’t fit with BR. But I have this weird urge to record it, and since I’m always coming up with songs, I think it really represents who I am.”

In May 1997, Greg mentioned that some of the stuff he was composing sounded a lot like “Runnin’ Fast,” but he assured everyone that he’s now a better composer, lyricist, and recordist, so the material will be even better. When asked about his amazing melodies, he jokingly said, “I hear voices in my head; not many people do.” The truth is, most of BR’s vocal melodies actually come from Greg’s head, even on songs that are only credited to Brett on the albums.

This content was originally written by the badass contributors of thebrpage.net, the best superfan resource and website that exists for any band, let alone the best band in the whole entire world. I’ve been lurking on that site for over 20 years and if you’re into Bad Religion as much as I am, I’m sure you’re familiar. If you are not, go there right now and never come back to this site again. You should, and I totally understand.
